Nirbhika's Story


Nirbhika Parsani-Moorjani brings the world of retail and eCommerce fashion experience to her credit.

Nirbhika grew up in Mumbai and then completed her B.A from Oberlin College, Ohio, USA in 2002 majoring in Psychology & English Literature. She then moved to New York City and began her career in pharmaceutical advertising at Cline, Davis & Mann. After nearly 4 years she headed back homeward to India, a country fresh on the cusp of an economic and retail boom.

Nirbhika plunged into the world of fashion by joining Kimaya, a multi-brand fashion retailer, and within a year she was made CEO. At Kimaya, Nirbhika spearheaded business expansion to positioning Kimaya as a luxury brand and the leading retailer of top Indian designer labels. Internationally, Nirbhika represented Kimaya in Paris, Milan, and London Fashion Weeks, and she led joint ventures to expand Kimaya’s sourcing network with global fashion brands including Valentino, MaxMara, Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel, Trussardi, Pinko, Versus, and Rene Caovilla. Kimaya became the first multi-brand fashion retailer to house international brands under Nirbhika’s leadership.

In 2008, Nirbhika went back to New York to earn her MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. While still in school, she co-founded Exclusively.In, a niche eCommerce site for fashion, jewelry, accessories and home decor from Indian artisans and designers, that sells in the UK and North America. Exclusively.In raised $18.6 million in funding from Tiger Global Management, Accel Partners and Helion Venture Partners and was acquired by Myntra in 2012.

At Exclusively.In, Nirbhika was the head of North America, where she introduced top Indian designer brands, led customer acquisition strategies and organized exclusive “trunk shows” –  she hosted designers such as Shyamal & Bhumika, Payal Singhal, Pam Mehta, Amrapali, Gem Palace, etc, to showcase their collections all across the US. These exhibitions were a great way for customers to meet designers in person and for customers to touch, feel and see in person, the great quality and product of Indian brands.

After the success of Exclusively.In, Nirbhika founded Silk Street Trading Co., a global platform that takes Indian brands to the world, through retail exhibitions. Silk Street brings high fashion pret and couture labels, including resort and bridal wear, menswear, kids fashion, costume jewelry, precious stones and fine diamond jewelry, accessories and home décor to your city, through 1-day shopping extravaganzas.
